How We Got Here

The story of All About Garage Doors begins in 1988. After many years working for a different garage door company in Portland, Loy “Tex” Nix and his wife Marsha decided to build something of their own in Tigard — a local garage door service company rooted in integrity and community values.

With hard work, long hours, and a strong belief in treating customers right, the Nix family built a reputation throughout Tigard and the surrounding Portland area for dependable service and honest advice. Eventually, their son Dave, a master installer, joined the business, carrying on the hands-on tradition his parents started.

When Tex retired in 2004, Dave stepped in to lead the company into its next chapter. That’s when All About Garage Doors was born. The new name reflected a broader focus and a deeper commitment to specialization. Dave believed customers deserved more than just installation — they deserved education, transparency, and products they could trust.

That philosophy still defines All About Garage Doors today.
